The rail pressure sensor (RPS) installed on the high-pressure rail communicates with the control unit. The transmitted pressure values serve to regulate the system pressure and control the injectors. This sensor will help indicate a fuel pressure issue due to a failing high-pressure fuel pump or a supply issue. In extreme cases, a failing sensor may provide a false reading which will put your car into limp mode.

A common failure of this sensor will be a short to-ground or to-battery voltage.
