JDC Titanium Valve Cover Hardware Kit | Mitsubishi Evo X

Replace rusty, corroded, or worn factory valve cover hardware on your Mitsubishi Evo X with the JDC Titanium Valve Cover Hardware Replacement Kit. Each fastener is precision CNC-machined from 6AL-4V Grade 5 titanium, giving your 4B11T engine bay a premium upgrade with exceptional corrosion resistance and the vibrant anodized finishes JDC Titanium is known for.

The valve cover bolts are engineered to match the critical depth and diameter specifications of the OEM hardware while incorporating JDC's custom-designed low-profile head for a cleaner, more flush appearance. The kit is compatible with both plastic and aluminum Evo X valve covers, with two kit configurations available depending on how much factory hardware you want to replace.

Whether you are restoring an aging engine bay or completing a full JDC Titanium dress-up package, this kit replaces ordinary factory hardware with purpose-built titanium fasteners designed specifically for the Evo X platform.

Torque Specifications & JDC Testing

The factory-recommended final torque specification for the Evo X valve cover hardware is 48.5 +/- 4.5 inch-pounds. Always use a properly calibrated inch-pound torque wrench and a 5mm Allen key when tightening the JDC valve cover bolts. Do not use a Torx bit.

JDC has physically torque-tested the Evo X titanium valve cover bolts to establish a substantial safety margin beyond the factory specification. During testing, the bolt head did not strip until approximately 14.5 ft-lbs, or 174 inch-pounds. This is more than three times the factory final torque specification. If you strip a bolt, you're doing something wrong.

Before Installation

Clean gloves are recommended when handling anodized titanium to prevent skin oils from transferring onto the finish. If gloves are unavailable, thoroughly wash and dry your hands before handling the hardware.

After installation, fingerprints or oils can be removed using mild soapy water, Windex, or our proprietary JDC Titanium Cleaner, and a clean microfiber towel. Avoid abrasive cleaners, water spot remover, or acidic cleaners that could damage the titanium finish.

Installation Instructions

Step 1: Remove all factory valve cover bolts except the bolts located in positions 1 and 2 on the factory torque diagram. Leaving these two bolts installed temporarily helps keep the valve cover properly centered. Install the remaining JDC titanium bolts and loosely tighten them by hand.

Step 2: Following the factory torque sequence, torque the valve cover bolts to 26.5 +/- 8.8 inch-pounds in the specified order. When you reach bolt 18, remove factory bolts 1 and 2 and replace them with the JDC titanium bolts. Continue the sequence beginning with bolt 3 and perform the final torque to 48.5 +/- 4.5 inch-pounds. Be sure to complete the final torque procedure on bolts 1 and 2 as well.

If you purchased the Basic Kit, installation is complete. If you purchased the Full Kit, continue with the following steps.

Step 3: Locate the four M6x20mm titanium bolts included for the ignition coil packs. Remove the original coil pack bolts and replace them with the new titanium hardware. Hand tightening is sufficient for these fasteners.

Step 4: Remove the three factory bolts securing the wire clips on top of the valve cover. Pinch and remove the black clip from the bracket to access the factory bolt with a 10mm socket. Replace the original hardware with the M6x12mm titanium bolts. Hand tightening is sufficient.

Step 5: Remove the two factory bolts located on top of the fuel rail and replace them with the supplied M6x12mm titanium bolts. Hand tightening is sufficient for these fasteners.

Step 6: Inspect your installation, clean any fingerprints from the titanium, and enjoy the finished engine bay. Take a few photos and tag @JD_Customs_USA for a chance to have your Evo X featured on our Instagram story.

Important Installation Notes

  • Factory final valve cover torque is 48.5 +/- 4.5 inch-pounds
  • Initial torque sequence is 26.5 +/- 8.8 inch-pounds
  • Use a 5mm Allen key for the JDC valve cover bolts
  • Do not use a Torx bit
  • Use an inch-pound torque wrench for accurate installation
  • Follow the factory tightening sequence to maintain even clamping pressure

Why Choose JDC Titanium?

JDC Titanium hardware is designed for enthusiasts who care about the smallest details of their build. Rather than using generic titanium bolts, this kit was developed specifically around the Evo X valve cover with OEM dimensions, a custom JDC head profile, and hardware selected for the surrounding engine components.

From precision CNC machining and hand finishing to anodizing, assembly, and torque testing, JDC puts careful attention into every step of the process. The result is a purpose-built titanium hardware kit that combines fitment, durability, corrosion resistance, and the bespoke engine bay appearance JDC Titanium has become known for.
